Melissa King
Chef Entrepreneur
Melissa King moves through food the way some people move through music: instinctively, socially, with an eye for atmosphere as much as craft. Long before television audiences knew her from Top Chef, she was shaped by the Bay Area’s overlapping worlds of restaurants, night markets, immigrant stories, and communal tables.
She became one of the most recognizable chefs of her generation after winning Top Chef All-Stars: Los Angeles, where her precision, calm confidence, and deeply personal cooking made her both the season champion and fan favorite. Since then, she’s expanded naturally into television, publishing, travel, and cultural curation, hosting National Geographic’s Tasting Wild and appearing everywhere from America’s Test Kitchen to Cooking with Love.
But her perspective still feels rooted in gathering: the right room, the right people, something good arriving at the table at exactly the right moment.
Venue Picks
This has always been one of my favorite intimate music venues in San Francisco and it takes me back to my early 20s when I first moved to the city. I’ve had a chance to see so many amazing artists come through here and it never loses it’s magic.
Davies symphony hall is one of the most stunning venues in SF! It’s right in the heart of the city and architectually beautiful. I’ve seen some truly unforgettable performances here from Cynthia Erivo to film nights with the SF symphony.
This is another one of favorite intimate venues for music in San Francisco. Over the years it’s held many memories from watching my favorite bands to catching my musician friends take the stage!
